Back home from the German Open 2017

We are back home from Magdeburg. It was an amazing time during the German Open 2017 and we are happy having made the second place in the Standard Platform League.

Most of our robots won't stay long in Leipzig. They have many hardware defects which must be fixed by Softbank Robotics in Paris.

Especially one robot had an big incident during the final match against B-Human. Maybe some of you saw on the live stream that he lost is head while he falls on his side. Now his neck is completely broken.  We hope he will be better soon.

Nao-Team HTWK vs. B-Human - 1:4

We are happy having made the second place at the German Open 2017. Congratulations to B-Human who won the first place.
More to follow once we are back home...

Nao-Team HTWK vs. Nao Devils - 4:1

After an exhausting match we won against the Nao Devils with a score of 4:1. The team from Dortmund had a very fast walking but our dribble strategy saved the game.

We made it to the finals against B-Human which is scheduled for today at 15:00 CEST.

Our next opponents are the Nao Devils

The match Nao Devils vs. HULKs just finished with a score of 8:0. So our next game will be against the Nao Devils from Dortmund. We hope we can play as well as in our last match against them which ended yesterday 5:1 for us.
Mark your calendars tomorrow morning at 10:30 CEST to support us so we can win this semi final match.

Nao-Team HTWK vs. B-Human - 0:3

Congratulations to our opponent B-Human from Bremen who won with a score of 3:0. This year we improved our walking engine but they are still faster. Both teams struggled with fading hardware.

However we are in the semi final which will take place tomorrow morning. Our opponent will be chosen this afternoon.
Stay tuned for more information.

Some Impressions of the first competition day

Every free moment on the field was used by the teams to make improvements even if it's just a timeout of five minutes.

We also had some support by a cute girl who wanted to help our robots to win the match against Berlin United during the second half ;)

See you tomorrow at 11:00 CEST in Magdeburg. If you can't be here visit the live stream.

Next match tomorrow at 11:00 CEST

Quick update: The time of our next match against B-Human has changed. The new time is tomorrow morning at 11:00 CEST.

Nao-Team HTWK vs. Berlin United - 6:0

Our last match of the day just concluded, we had to deal with two breakdowns so we played just with three robots in the first half. As you can see in the picture Berlin United had some trouble with one of their robots too. Luckily our problems could be solved during the half time and we returned with five robots to the second half.

With a result of 6:0 we look forward to our next match tomorrow morning at 9:00 CEST against B-Human from Bremen, the current world champion.

Nao-Team HTWK vs. Nao Devils - 5:1

We just finished our first match against the Nao Devils. The first half ended with a score of 2:0.
We are very happy that we have won the match with 5:1.

Our next game will be at 16:00 CEST against Berlin United. Like all the other matches of the SPL the game will be streamed live by the StreamTeam.

German Open Setup Days

The first setup day is over. We used our time before the venue closed at 10 pm to improved various parts of our code such as the get up motion which is stable again.

Right now we are in the hotel room and discuss our plans for tomorrow over a beer.

German Open Schedule

We arrived at the venue in Magdeburg.

Ready to go

There are some changes in the format of the competition. Instead of randomly assigned groups the games are played out in a Champions Cup and a Challenge Shield. The best 2 teams of the Champions Cup will qualify for the semi finals, while the bottom 2 have to face the top teams of the Challenge Shield for the remaining slots in the semis.
Due to our previous strong results we are seeded into the Champions Cup along with B-Human, Berlin United and Nao Devils. We have our first match Friday at 12:00 CEST.
