Kleiner Fun Fact: Dieses Jahr gibt es zum ersten Mal ein schwarzes Sicherheitsnetz rund um das Spielfeld. Der Grund ist ziemlich naheliegend – unsere humanoiden Roboter schießen inzwischen nicht nur aufs Tor, sondern manchmal auch ganz ordentlich in die Höhe. Damit also weder Publikum noch fliegende Bälle ungewollt Bekanntschaft machen, wurde diesmal vorgesorgt.

Für uns heißt das: mehr Sicherheit am Feldrand und vielleicht auch die ein oder andere extra spannende Flugkurve, die elegant im Netz statt in der Zuschauermenge landet. Na, das wird interessant ;-)

Fun Fact from the sideline

A little fun fact from the RoboCup German Open in Cologne: This year, for the first time, there is a black safety net surrounding the field. The reason is quite obvious – our humanoid robots are no longer only shooting toward the goal, but sometimes quite impressively into the air as well. So to make sure that neither the audience nor any unexpected high balls get too close for comfort, extra precautions were taken this time.

For us, that means more safety around the field and probably a few especially exciting ball trajectories ending neatly in the net instead of somewhere in the crowd. This should be interesting ;-)

RoboCup German Open 2026: erster Tag in Köln

Endlich geht es los: Wir sind bei den RoboCup German Open 2026 in Köln angekommen! Nach der Anreise hieß es für uns erstmal ausladen, aufbauen, sortieren und natürlich: die Roboter startklar machen. Zum Glück hat alles gut geklappt und wir sind bestens angekommen.

Schon heute waren unsere Roboter auf dem Feld unterwegs und konnten die ersten Meter in der Halle zurücklegen. Es ist jedes Mal aufs Neue ein schönes Gefühl, die eigenen Systeme nach der Reise wieder in Aktion zu sehen – besonders dann, wenn direkt alles so motivierend losgeht. Die Stimmung im Team ist gut, die Halle füllt sich, überall wird geschraubt, getestet, diskutiert und ausprobiert. Genau so soll der erste Tag bei einem RoboCup-Event aussehen.

Natürlich nutzen wir die ersten Stunden nicht nur zum Ankommen, sondern auch, um letzte Dinge zu prüfen, Abläufe zu testen und uns mit den Gegebenheiten vor Ort vertraut zu machen. Noch ist alles ein bisschen Einlaufen, Einschwingen und Überblick verschaffen – aber genau darin liegt auch immer ein besonderer Reiz. Der erste Tag hat seinen ganz eigenen Rhythmus: noch kein voller Wettkampfmodus, aber schon ganz viel Vorfreude auf das, was kommt.

Wir freuen uns sehr, hier zu sein, bekannte Gesichter wiederzusehen und mit unseren Robotern in Köln auf dem Feld zu stehen. Der Auftakt ist auf jeden Fall gelungen – und wir sind gespannt auf die nächsten Tage bei den German Open!

RoboCup German Open 2026: Day One in Cologne

We’ve officially arrived at the RoboCup German Open 2026 in Cologne! After the journey, the first step was unloading, setting up, organizing everything and, of course, getting the robots ready. Thankfully, everything went smoothly and we arrived safe and in good shape.

Our robots were already out on the field today and got their first steps in inside the competition hall. It always feels great to see our systems back in action after traveling – especially when things start off this well. The mood in the team is great, the venue is coming to life, and everywhere people are testing, tuning, discussing and preparing. Exactly how a first RoboCup day should feel.

Of course, we’re not only using the first day to arrive, but also to check the final details, test our processes and get familiar with the local setup. For now, it’s still a mix of settling in, fine-tuning and getting an overview – but that’s also part of what makes day one special. It has its own rhythm: not yet full competition mode, but already full of anticipation for what’s ahead.

We’re very happy to be here, to meet familiar faces again and to have our robots on the field in Cologne. So far, it’s been a really good start – and we’re excited for the days to come at the German Open.
