Robocup German Open 2018 preparation day 2 - Referee meeting

We start the second preparation day with the referee meeting where all the new guys and girls get an introduction to the game rules (ball placement, pushing and so on). But even all the old participants attend to get an update on the yearly changes in the ruleset.

Here is a link to the current rule set, in case you want to take a look.

Robocup German Open - The quest for Mate

Today half of the people went on the "Quest for Mate". Because every time a lot of Nerds converge there is an increase of caffeine consumption and coffee is usually harder to make on the spot, any kind of Mate icetea becomes a rare ressource in the city.

As evidence we present you todays after arrival route

Robocup German Open 2018 preparation day 1

After packing our cars to the brim with all the stuff, we headed towards the Magdeburg venue.

Directly after arriving there, we reduced some entropy and moved our bots to the Nao-Clinic. The usual procedure after arriving at any competition.

Lange Nacht der Computerspiele

As every year we were showing our robots playing to the public during the Lange Nacht der Computerspiele. We had some guests from the Frankfurt Bembelbots this time. So we were able to help each other in our eager preparation for the RoboCup German Open.

Hope to see you there :-)

Finals - Iran Open 2018

Today was the last day of the competition and we played the final against HULKs. It was really captivating. The total game contains a lot heavily fought situations, we were able to score three goals in the first half of the game. The second half was as exciting as the first half and we were able to score two additional goals, so that we won with a final score of 5:0 against HULKs. MRL has reached the 3rd place with a score of 2:1 against Dutch Nao Team.

Day 4 - Iran Open 2018

Today was the last day of the group games, and we had our last game in them. Our game was against MRL and was the third win in a row. We finished the group phase in first place with a goal difference of +17. Tomorrow at 10.30 am local time will be the game for 3rd place between MRL and Dutch Nao Team. We will play the final against HULKs at 1 pm local time (10.30 am German time).

HTWK vs. MRL - Game Report

The game against MRL was our last game of the group games. At the beginning we shot 2 goals after that MRL took a time out to fix some bugs. After the break we continued playing and scored another 2 goals. In the second half they seemed to have fixed their problems and where ready to play. Nevertheless we still managed to score yet another 2 goals - all with our field players this time, in case you're wondering. In the end we won with a total score of 6:0.

HTWK vs. HULKs - Game Report

The game against the HULKs was really interesting, because we could only play with 4 Robots. However they also had some problems in the first half, so we were not at a disadvantage with the HULKs. In the first half we made 2 goals, where the second was with our goalie Shredder. In the second half we only used 3 Robots against 4 Robots. As you can see they really like group hugs, especially in the first half. In the second half we also scored 2 goals, one of which again with our goalie. So we won with a final score of 4:0. All in all this was a really exciting and fun to watch game.

Day 3 - Iran Open 2018

Today was the opening of the competition and we had our first 2 group games. The first game was against Dutch Nao Team, which we won with a final score of 7:0. The second game was a bit harder, because we had to play against the HULKs. But fortunately we also won this game with a score of 4:0. Tomorrow we will have our last group game against MRL (at 1 pm local time, 10.30 am German time). We are in good spirits to reach the finals on Saturday.

Arrival at Iran Open 2018

Yesterday we arrived in Tehran at 6 am. We flew via Istanbul, where the weather was bad. So we had a lot of turbulence while landing and our subsequent flight was delayed.

Airport Leipzig/Halle
The hotel is at the Olympic center, so we only have a 5 minute walk to the venue. Fortunately, this time there is internet, but it's very slow.

Tehran International Exhibition Center

Today we'll test all Robots and perhaps we'll have a test game later in the afternoon.

End of Day 1

Nao-Devils Dortmund took the lead by defeating us 2:1. Despite the close result they were the stronger team this time and deserved the win. Earlier today, we won 2:0 over Berlin United.
Overall we still look good and will meet Bembelbots next tomorrow. If we win this we're up for a rematch against Dortmund in the finals.

HTWK 5:0 NomadZ

We opened the tournament with a 5:0 victory over NomadZ. Just before the match started we experienced some new issues, but were able to fix those fast enough.
Due to a tight schedule the games only last 10 minutes, which is needed to give the robots enough time to rest in between.
We're scheduled to play against Berlin United next at 2pm.

Phoenix Contact Robotics Cup

We are in Cologne/Köln at the Absolventenkongress until Friday for a small tournament featuring a total of 5 teams from Germany and Switzerland.
The first match will be played tomorrow 12 pm between us and NomadZ from ZĂ¼rich.

It's nice to have a competition again and see many familiar faces. Our main task will be to tune the walking engine for the local field. We'll keep you updated about the progress and results.

Nacht der offenen TĂ¼r zur IHK Leipzig

Yesterday we participated at the "Nacht der offenen TĂ¼r" by an invitation of the IHK Leipzig. We want to thank them very much for the well done organization and support on the day. We presented our Nao's in videos from the past competitions and in action. The visitors were able to control the robots by its own. The IHK Team made a video (in german) where our team member Hannes presented the RobotSoccer as »The Future«.

Watch the World Championship Finals now

This year's Robocup SPL League finals were a close match between the team B-Human and us. We hope you'll find our recording of the game as exciting as the crowd did at the edges of the field.
